Because of the "line" drawn in the sand, where I happen to live in our little town of New Castle, CO...I am suppost to call the county sheriff rather than my local PD.. This is especially bad for me for a number of reasons, the main one being distance. I DO live directly up the street (7th) from our "cop shop" and over 20 miles from the county sherrif. Why this is important is because I'm being threatened by my roommate and her 1 of people on a regular 24 hr. basis. The police can't act because it's the sheriff's jurisdiction. It also is considered a civil matter right up to the moment it isnt; which is also when it becomes, by nature, criminal/. A good example of this is "domestic violence." Our problems are EXACTLY that of any volatile domestic couple. Thru and thru.
Which brings us back to the beginning and the "review" of my town police department. (Someone is snooping around the house...lots of whispering. Upon my brief inspection, I'm deducing they are ripping me off of any and all things she desires from money to clothes, bedding, equipment, etc.) This woman is the scary, manipulative type. You don't want to meet HER in a long, enclosed alleyway. Day or night!
As I'm writing this, I am afraid of what's going on directly beyond my bedroom door. I believe my roommate has gatherd up her group of sneaks and thieves and that they're up to something?? no good. Its 4:30am and it is very quiet, save for the rain. All the dogs are asleep. So are my alies in this scenario. Aside from the obvious protocol for most DV cases, my case also includes the fact that I am partially disabled. I don't move very well and I can not run a lick. Everyone else can. This is why I've begun writing this explanation now...I'll be prepared just in case something bad does go down tonight/early this morning. I feel like it's possible. If nothing happens then
Circling back around, New Castle has an awesome police force. They are involved in the community and are well respected by it. They're also well trained; on par with our bigger, neighboring town's departments; yet they're independent in action as well as thinking. I'm comfortable saying that they seem to operate "outside of the box." This is a good twishhing for around here. This group thinks for themselves, as well as for the safety and betterment of the citizens they represent. Because of the varried backgrounds of my neighbors and the competition for the countie's (Garfield) resources, New Castle's police and fire departments should be commended for a lot more than I am doing presently... I wish only it was them I could call upon right about now. Why? Because danger lurks behind my very door. Hope I live to enjoy the fruits of this morning's task in the full light of day.
